Formula Car Racing

Formula One is the category of automobile racing with the highest following, the foundations of Formula racing can be traced back to the formation of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in 1904, a non-profit organization which sought to represent the interests of motor users and motoring organizations and continues to do so. The name is derived from the regulations (or formulae) affirmed by the FIA for all single-seater motor racing participants and their respective vehicles.

The standardized set of regulations was officially defined in 1946 and the first race, a non-championship Grand Prix, was held in September of the same year. This lead to Drivers’ World Championship the year after and the inauguration of the Formula One World Championship in 1950. These initial races gave rise to a worldwide phenomenon, with a set of technical rules and regulations unparalleled in its complexity within the sporting world.

Due to the tremendous amount of differing categories and styles (over 70) associated with formula racing and the complexity of each type, this article will not explain each one. Here is a list of just some of the types to give you an idea of the sports complex nature:

Each of these categories falls under a diverse range of single-seater racing competition levels, with Formula One at the helm of the sport. As the third most globally viewed array sporting events, after the Summer Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, Formula One is constantly being reviewed and regulated according to increased advancement of motoring technology as a result of the immense investment generated by the commercialized nature of the sport. It’s safe to say that the sport will be constantly evolving in the coming years.
